MCNS says Tiger claims misleading

The LTTE claims that the security forces have suffered severe setbacks in recent fighting in Jaffna have failed to consider the fact that the Sri Lanka security forces have more than 400,000 armed personnel, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said yesterday.

“The LTTE is currently engaged in an attempt to mislead the international community that the security forces have suffered a severe setback. When disseminating its false news the LTTE propaganda machine has not considered a very important fact, that is, that the Sri Lankan security forces comprise over 400,000 armed personnel,” the Centre said.

The government said 129 soldiers were killed and over 300 injured in the fighting in Muhamalai in Jaffna on Wednesday.

The statement said that the soldiers who sacrificed their lives will be honoured and the needs of all servicemen affected in the battlefield given the utmost attention with the highest priority.
