Kelani Cables launches street drama team

Nihal Suranjith Director “Art circle” and a pupil of Dr. Gamini Hathtotuwage – one of the most recognized street drama producers who introduced the street drama concept to Sri Lanka, recently conducted a four-day drama workshop at Kelani Cables Ltd.

A 15-member Kelani street drama team was born as a result of this workshop and has been named the “Kelani Elani 5D2V Street Drama Team.”

A company statement said they had performed their maiden drama on October 13 at Kelani Cables to mark the World Standard Day, which fell on October 14. Jayantha Wijesinghe, script writer and producer of the drama titled “May Kohi Yanne” said the Kelani street drama team is one of the best outcomes of their team building activities, among the 15 employees.

It is a fine cross section of all levels in the work force such as executives, supervisors, clerks, machine operators and minor employees who are actively participating in the event.

Hemantha Perera, Managing Director - Kelani Cables, said that he would make use of their talents for the growth and benefit of the company by product branding in a unique way of addressing the target market audience through the new drama team.
