Rodney to write an autograph on Ven. Ananda Chief prelate
View(s):Veteran journalist, film and teledrama director and writer Rodney Vidanapathirana commenced writing the biography of Ven. Naluwela Ananda Nayaka Thera. A ceremony on this was held in Mahinda Viharaya in Mumbai, India recently.
Ven. Ananda moved to India as a member of the second missionary group of Baddegama Wimalawansa Chief Prelate. He carried out his missionary work under various difficulties and hardships.
He later became the President of Mahinda International Organisation in India. Thakshila School which was started under his guidance in Ulhasnagar in India currently boasts of over 3000 students.
A special ceremony was held to mark the starting the writing of the book covering religious, social and educations service rendered by Ven. Ananda at the Mahinda Temple in Ulhasnagar in Mumbai.
In line with the event, a television programme titled Bharatha Dharmadutha Charika (Buddhist Missionary journey to India) was started. The Chief guest of this event was Sri Lankan Consul General in Mumbai, Dr.Valsan Vethody. Sri Lankan Consul Sandun Sameera, Assistant Secretary of Maharasthra State, I. M. M. More, Indian writers Sunil Somawana, Narayana and Somkambley were also present at the ceremony.
