Familian Nethali shines at Junior and Senior Swimming Nationals

Nethali Outschoorn of Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya won a silver and two bronze medals at the recently concluded Junior and Senior National Swimming Championships concluded at the Sugathadasa Swimming Sports Complex.
The 14-year-old Nethali won silver in the Girls’ Under-15 200m freestyle event, clocking 2:28.71 seconds behind Sithuki Yonara of Asian International School, who clocked 2:22.90 seconds for her gold medal. Though she was in third place for most of the race, Nethali came firing all cylinders to finish second. Her two bronze medals came in Girls’ Under-15, 50m and 100m freestyle events.
The aspiring swimmer clocked a personal best performance of 1:08.68 seconds to place third in the 100m race and then 30.94 seconds in the 50m race to collect three medals in her first appearance at the junior nationals. She also managed to place fourth in the 400m freestyle, returning a time of 5:24.39 seconds.
