No change in dates for A/L and Grade five scholarship exams
View(s):The G.C.E. A/L exams and the Grade five scholarship exams scheduled to be held later this year will not be postponed despite requests to differ the date on the grounds that syllabuses have not been completed.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said as scheduled the Grade five scholarship exam will be held on December 4 while the A/L exams will be held from December 5 to January 2.
He said it appeared that the demand for the postponement of exams was coming from students who were sitting the exams for the second and third time and not from those who were making their first attempt.
He said the exams had been scheduled for the holiday period and a change of dates would affect the timetables as schools would have to be closed out of turn.
The minister said they had taken into consideration that the syllabuses had been completed for school students.
