14th Schools’ Novices Swimming and Diving Meet returns after two years

The long-awaited Sri Lanka Schools’ Novices Swimming and Diving Meet will commence this weekend at the Sugathadasa Indoor Swimming Pool Complex, offering aspiring swimmers an opportunity to showcase their talents on a national platform after almost two years. Organised by Sri Lanka Schools’ Aquatic Sports Association, the meet will be sponsored by Nestlé Milo in line with its ambition of supporting grass-root sports in the country.

Drawing applications from over 5,000 swimmers from schools across the island, the meet will comprise of events under the age groups of 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20. The swimming events for girls will take place on August 13 and 14 while the events for boys will be held from August 19 to 21. All diving events will be held on August 20.

The top eight of Under-10 and Under-12 age category events will be selected based on qualifying times, and the three winners of Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 events will get the opportunity to compete in the 46th Sri Lanka Schools’ Swimming Championship 2022. Planned to be held later this year, the Sri Lanka Schools’ Swimming Championship will also be sponsored by Nestlé Milo, helping children excel in the sport they love, whilst nourishing them to go further.
