History awaits for four squash players set for CWG

For the four squash players – Ravindu Laksiri, Shameel Wakeel, Chanithma Sinaly and Yeheni Kuruppu – endorsed by the Ministry of Sports and set to represent Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games (CWG), history is on the cards, the Sunday Times can confirm, exclusively.

Accordingly, in news that eclipses everything for the very first time of the Lankans’ CWG participation history, the country would be fielding a women’s and a mixed doubles teams. In the last tournament in 2018, the island had only sent singles in all available categories.

Then held in Gold Coast, Australia, national level player, Ravindu Laksiri, made his debut. This time he would be making his second appearance and a first for the rest. Apart from the players, the head coach, Pakistani, Rehman Gul, is expected to join in as the solitary official.
