‘Jurassic World Dominion’, the last film of the Jurassic World trilogy released in Sri Lanka last Friday, the 10th June, 2022.

‘Jurassic World Dominion’ is a 2022 American science fiction action film directed by Colin Trevorrow, based on a story by Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly. It is the sequel to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), the sixth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, the final film in the Jurassic World trilogy and the conclusion to the storyline started in the original Jurassic Park trilogy.  The film stars an ensemble cast including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, and Daniella Pineda.

The film is set four years after the events of Fallen Kingdom, with dinosaurs now living alongside humans around the world. The film was being planned as early as 2014 as part of a future Jurassic World trilogy. Filming began in February 2020 but was suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It resumed in July and concluded four months later. Filming locations included Canada, England’s Pinewood Studios and the country of Malta.

The previous film, Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom, left with the idea that humans will just have to coexist with dinosaurs out there in the wild, dangerous but manageable, like bears or spiders. This new movie begins a few years after the destruction of the ‘Isla Nublar’ compound for dinosaurs. Nowadays, beefy velociraptor handler Owen (Pratt) lives a remote, almost hermit existence as a kind of dino-cowboy, with his wife, Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), and their adopted daughter Maisie (Isabella Sermon), the cloned child of Sir Benjamin Lockwood’s daughter. Sir Benjamin, played by James Cromwell, is the supposed former business partner of Jurassic Park OG John Hammond, once played by Richard Attenborough.

The film is now screened at LSC – Liberty by Scope Cinemas, CCC – Colombo City Centre, PVR-Colombo-2, Majestic Cinema-Bambalapitiya and Jaffna, Kandy City Centre, Regal cinemas in Gampaha, Nuwara Eliya and Dematagoda, Savoy 3D Colombo, Roxy Cinema Wellawatta, Savoy Premier Rajagiriya, Cinemax Ja Ela, Milano Kegalle, Maxx Lite Moratuwa, Amity Lite, Sky Lite Matara, Nikado Kadawatha, NIT Rathnapura, NIT Kurunegala, NIT Yatiyanthota, Sky Lite Malabe, Leka Cinema Homagama, Rou Cinema – Katunayake, Raja Jaffna, Nelson – Trinco and Lido – Borella.
