View(s):The Faculty of Computing (FOC) of NSBM Green University provides world-class education and training in computing and information technology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with a view of producing internationally recognised global graduates who will contribute to the industry as well as further disciplines through research. In the process, they will turn out to be thoughtful, responsible, and productive members of the profession as well as the community. The faculty offers various degree programmes either with the approval of the University Grants Commission(UGC) and Ministry of Higher Education or in affiliation with foreign universities, University of Plymouth, UK and Victoria University, Australia, under four departments.

The course modulesof the degree programmes offered under FOC are updated periodically to be in line with the rapid advancements taking place in the industry and are in constant touch with local and global professional bodies. The graduates of the FOC are in high demand from leading local and some global companies. Thereby, the FOC has been able to make significant inroads to the development of the IT industry both locally as well as globally.
The job training aspect is driven by a unique intensive programme dubbed“Industry Preparation Training (IPT)” conducted by the FOC in collaboration with leading industry experts. This non-traditional model of education with a healthy blend of theory and practice prepares FOC graduates to assume job responsibilities as they pass out from the university.
In addition to that, the students of the faculty engage in various other co-curricular activities such as the FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software) club and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) student chapter, which are actively engaged in conducting knowledge sharing sessions and development activities.

According to the National IT-BPM Workforce Survey (2019) conducted by the ICTA of Sri Lanka, there was a shortfall of nearly 12,000 ICT graduates compared to less than 500 in the last survey in 2013, with the sector growing fast due to globalisation.
