Batter Avishka Fernando, all-rounder Ramesh Mendis and seamer Nuwan Thushara will miss the three-match T20 series against India starting February 24 in Lucknow due to injuries.

Fernando who was dropped for the third and fourth matches of the current Australian series due to bad form has reportedly injured his knee during training and is likely be out of action for at least three months.

Mendis fractured his right thumb while batting during training and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Thushara walked off the field during the third T20I, at the start of his second over, and has since been diagnosed with a left side strain. The national team will fly directly to India from Australia for the T20 series–a tough one against one of the best teams in the world across formats. The second and third matches will be played in Dharmasala on February 26 and 27.
