Abyewickrama to head Schools Netball

Mrs. Nirodha Abeywickrama was appointed the new President of Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association, at its Annual General Meeting held last Friday. Mrs. Abeywickrama is the current Principal of Maliyadeva Girls’ School, Kurunegela as she readies to lead schools netball to new heights, with a well experienced set of office bearers under her administration.
The experienced Shiromi Kuruppu, who has wealth of knowledge as an administrator having also served the national body, is the new General Secretary. She is the Deputy Principal of Siri Piyarathana Central, Padukka.
Shyamen Vithanawasam, from
Sri Subhithi National School, Battaramulla, is the new Treasurer.
Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association is the governing body of netball at schools level, an important feeder of players to the national and international stage. Netball is a sport from which Sri Lanka has earned global status, having won the Asian Senior and Junior titles more than once and producing players of international repute.
