The First International Conference on Management and Entrepreneurship (ICOME)- 2022

Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) of the Open University of Sri Lanka will host the first International Conference on Management and Entrepreneurship (ICOME) on the 31st of March and 1st April,2022 on the virtual platform.

The theme of the conference is “Business Management: Innovation, Challenges and Resilience” and the following objectives are going to be achieved at this conference  

  • To bring local and foreign researchers and practitioners to one forum to share and disseminate current developments and insights in Business Management and Entrepreneurship
  • To strengthen the scholarly and professional network among researchers  and
  • To underpin the need for collaboration and cooperation of individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds in Business Management and Entrepreneurship to contribute to a sustainable future

Conference organisers expected to have the participation of local and foreign scholars, academics, professionals, practitioners, and policymakers in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. It is indeed a great pleasure to declare that  Professor Philip Kolter (father of modern marketing ) will be the chief guest of this conference  and will be delivering his speech on “The Future of Marketing” .

Professor Xiaobo WU(Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Former Dean, School of Management, Zhejiang University, the Director of  National Institute for Innovation Management ) will make the key note speech and Professor Sampath Amaratunge ,Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Sri Lanka will deliver the guest speech .

The conference tracks consist areas such as Creative Economy and Innovative Entrepreneurship, International Business Strategy and Global Trends,Business Innovation and Business Strategies in Crises,Laws and regulatory frameworks for small and medium enterprises,Accounting, Finance and Banking  ,Financial Innovations in Management,Financial Literacy for SME,Marketing Management ,Tourism and Hospitality Management,Supply Chain Management and Turbulent Business Environments. Innovative HR strategies and organisational adaptability,HR Accounting and HR Analytics,Human Resource Management ,Interdisciplinary Research in Management, Management for Individual, Organisational and Societal Wellbeing and Management Education and Open Distance Learning.

This event can be considered as one of the important for researchers, scholars, and professionals in Sri Lanka and around the globe. They will get a great opportunity for demonstrating their research findings along with networking  in the global forum. The research papers submitted and presented at the conference will be considered for publication in international journals and local journals such as Sri Lanka Journal of Management Studies(SLJMS) and “Management Issues” published by the Faculty of Management Studies, The Open University of Sri Lanka. Important Dates: ICOME

Aligned with this conference there will be a  forum on “Creative Economy and Entrepreneurship in
Sri Lanka” that focuses on three thematic discussions of the Management, Economic and social roles of creative industries with  Entrepreneurial orientation in Sri Lanka. Selected Entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka will be awarded at this event.

More importantly as separate function the date of “May 27th” will be declared as the “Marketing Day @ the Open University of Sri Lanka” to pay tribute to Professor Philip Kotler for the contribution he made to the world and specifically for developing countries to make the subject of marketing as one of the important and popular among other disciplines for sustainable development.
