“Be a Medical Doctor for a Day” event is a semi medical education workshop which indulges in training passionate students dreaming of becoming a Medical doctors. The workshop will cover ;

Practical Session on life-saving skills (Basic CPR techniques)

Basic Surigical Principles (ABC’s of Suturing styles & techniques)

How to select a Medical university for the dream Medical career.

IMC Education is proud to organize this workshop post-covid both Physically & Virtually for students after A/L’s or with pending AL results who wishes to pursue their dream of becoming a Medical Doctor. The workshop will take place on the 01st of May 2021 at IMC Education (154, Thimbirigasyaya Junction, Havelock Rd, Colombo 05) from 10.30 am onward. This session will also be live streamed online through Zoom for students who wish to attend the event virtually. We invite you to learn from the experts & to assist you “Learn Save Lives” under one Medical roof.

WHAT IS COVERED IN THE MEDICAL WORKSHOP?

The medical workshop is to be moderated by,

Dr. Burhanuddin Hamza – Medical Officer. Emergency Treatment Unit/ Nephrology. (Batch Top student from Vitebsk State Medical University [Red Degree Holder] and one of the Best Top 10 performers at the ERPM/ACT 16 examination in 2017. Past Student of Lyceum International School – Wattala.

It is possible to be inspired by workshops like these. It could be the very first time your son/daughter would get hands on experience on simulated clinical settings. The workshop would focus on the following,

Amplifying how to act upon a clinical emergency? (Heartattack, Road Accident, Snake bites, Sudden deep cuts through sharp objects etc)

Basic CPR techniques.

Basic suturing techniques. (How to use the tools of suturing – hands on experience)

Introduction to have a healthy life (Complications shown through live video footages)

This workshop is  to empower medical students with knowledge and skills that will help them connect patients’ stories with their professional actions of providing care and  to be ready for Medical university.

The most interesting part of this workshop is where students get to see live video footages of real surgeries conducted by Dr. Burhanuddin Hamza. The witness of these surgeries would encourage students to be aware of basic ways of living a healthy life. Students would be taken through a comprehensive introduction on the Basics of Medicine with live video footages of surgeries that would confidently increase the passion  of an aspiring medical student.

Through the highlights of the event, the participants and parents will be fully acknowledged with a 360° over view with regard to the challenging questions and behaviors when selecting a Medical University and selecting a Medical Doctor as a profession as well.  Due to the COVID-19  pandemic, students in Sri Lanka missed out on the opportunity to have hands on experience to basic life saving skills and the knowledge of knowing the basics of Surgical principles. By adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines, IMC Education has offered the chance for students to either physically or virtually attend the session.

DO I GET A BENEFIT OUT OF THE WORKSHOP?

The students who take part in the workshop will be benefited with a “Certificate of Participation” since most Admissions to Medical Universities highly regard candidates with prior experience at Medical workshops, this indeed adds points for their Academic Involvement and commitment.

Students also have the opportunity to obtain scholarships from a selected number of medical universities on admission. To seek for eligibility all students are encouraged to book free consultations with the IMC Officials on the day of the event.
