The Government is planning to issue a certificate for students who complete up to grade nine so students will have a certificate to show they have completed their studies up to that grade.

The Government planned to issue the certificate by the end of the year, Education Reforms Ministry State Secretary Upali Sedera  said.

“Currently, students who complete O/L exams and A/L exams are issued certificates, but there is no certificate to show they have completed studies up to grade nine,” he said.

All students would be entitled to receive the certificate, which also gives them an opportunity to use it to apply for a job.

Another programme for students to complete modules, from grade six upwards, would also be introduced. These marks too could be included in the certificate issued, Dr Sedera said.
