The suspect who shot and killed a British Police Officer at a custody centre in South London on Friday (25) is a British citizen of Sri Lankan origin, British media reported last evening.

The 23-year-old suspect, is alleged to have pulled a gun and shot the officer while being checked into the Croydon Detention Centre on Friday (25). The suspect had then turned the gun on himself and is in critical condition in hospital.

The suspect is reported to be autistic and British media reported that he had been known to counter-terrorism police, though the shooting is being treated as a murder investigation and not a terror-related incident.
