Central Province Governor Lalith B Gamage had requested the Survey Department to conduct a survey on certain areas in Kadugannawa. The request was given after a recent suggestion to provide a cable car system that could boost tourism in these areas.

A preliminary discussion for this plan was held at the Governor’s office, with a Korean expert in cable car systems. The cable car system will provide tourists with the opportunity to view the panoramic beauty of Kadugannawa, and the historic Balana Fort which is located here.

This proposal was put forward after Governor Gamage visited the area to look into the possibility of establishing a cable car system, on the invitation of the Central Province Pradeshiya Sabha.

The Governor had directed the Survey Department to draw up the necessary plans for the proposal, if the Pradeshiya Sabha gives its approval for the project. The Survey Department representative said a further discussion could not be held until a proper survey of the area is conducted.

Therefore the Governor had directed the Survey Department to conduct a survey of the areas, as soon as possible.
