The junior cricketers of Trinity College, Kandy created history when they qualified for the final of the Under-13 Singer Cup with a bonus point win over Prince of Wales College which was played in Hikkaduwa recently.

This is the first time Trinity qualified for the final at this age group, the  closest being under Niroshan Dickwella in 2006 and in 1983 under Nilantha Ratnayake they came to the semi-finals.

Trinity won the toss and elected to bat first on a batting track where they scored 178 for 5 with a fine 90 by Dimantha Mahavithange. In reply the Cambrians could score only 123 for 6 at stumps. Trinity will play Maliyadeva in the final at a neutral venue and the date is yet be confirmed.

The outfit is coached by former Trinity cricket ‘Lion’ and national youth cricketer, Rushan Jaleel and assisted by Thilina de Silva and Narasinghe Bandara.
