The Education Ministry has decided to speed up the recruitment of graduates as student counsellors, because student counselling in government schools is important.

The Ministry said a 1327 graduates will face the final interviews starting from January 9 to 17, and recruitment will take place immediately.

The first placements will be to island-wide national schools and provincial schools in the Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces. The Ministry said it will make student counselling active in all government schools.

No appointments took place last year, even though the examination was held in 2018 and the initial interviews were conducted in May 2019. The official gazette notification was published in July, 2018.

The Ministry said those who passed the exam and the first round of interviews were disappointed, as they are still awaiting employment.
