Committee to look into Sri Lankan cycling team at 2019 SAGs

Education Ministry has set up a committee to inquire into the failure of the Sri Lanka cycling team to represent themselves in the 2019 South Asian Games.

The three member committee will examine why the team failed to participate in the downhill cycling race of the 13th South Asian Games. The committee includes chair Attorney-at-law Sujeewa Edirisinghe, Major General Athula Galagamage and Priyantha Ekanayake.

The case will be examined under the 2019 Act No. 24 of the Prevention of Crime Ordinance for sports. Education Minister, Dullas Alahapperuma said a committee report should be submitted by January 20, 2020.
