Navy’s seven-day Blue Whale exercise ends

Sri Lanka Navy Marines’ Field Training Exercise (FTX) ‘Blue Whale’-2019 was concluded at the North Western Naval Command on Wednesday.

Navy Commander Piyal de Silva was the chief guest on the final day. Northwestern Naval Area Commander Sujeewa Perera and senior naval officers were also present.

FTX ‘Blue Whale’ was conducted as the final phase of the seven-month long training module of 5th Marine Basic Qualifying Course.

It was held for seven days (from November 21 to 27), with six days being set aside for rehearsal in the beach area of SLNS Barana and areas in Silavathurai and Kayakkuli.

Personnel from the Special Boats Squadron, Rapid Action Boats Squadron and the Sri Lanka Air Force took part in the exercise which saw a variety of naval vessels and craft in action.
