Three arrested with 13.6 kg heroin in Rajagiriya
View(s):Police seized a total of 13.6 kilos of heroin and arrested three people in two related detections in the Rajagiriya area.
Acting on a tip off, police first arrested a couple in Rajagiriya while they were transporting 2.24 kilos of heroin. The information they provided led to the arrest of another woman with 11.66 kilograms of heroin.
The two women were residents of Hikkaduwa, while the man was from Colombo, police said.
The suspects were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further questioning.
Meanwhile, a haul of 200 kilos of Kerala cannabis (Kerala Ganja) was detected when police inspected a Mahendra Jeep transporting fish on the Mannar-Colombo Road near the Manthei checkpoint.
The cannabis had been hidden in rigifoam boxes used to transport fish. Two suspects were arrested and handed over to the PNB.
In another detection, three suspects with links to underworld gang leader Angoda Lokka were arrested along with 1.6 kg kerala cannabis, police said. One suspect was arrested in Weliwita while the other two were arrested in the Amabatale area.
