ANC U.S Curriculum gears students to ‘Think Like Corporate Executives’

ANC Education, in partnership with Northwood University, which is ranked among the Top 10 private Business schools in the U.S, offers a 100% U.S curriculum that inculcates experiential learning, a process of acquiring skills and knowledge through first-hand experiences from outside of the traditional academic classroom setting. Students are exposed across multiple industries to apply theory learnt in class, into practice in the real business world.

Experiential learnings are conducted through corporate internships, field trips, field research, study programs abroad and service-learning projects.

ANC takes students beyond the traditional academic classroom to immerse them in a corporate business world experience, with industry experts that provide real-world scenarios, and situations for students to think like a ‘Corporate Executive’, instilling in them the mindset needed to tackle the challenges of tomorrow’s market place.

Mr. Nizrin Ali, Country Director in Sri Lanka for Thailand based Consumer Goods Universal, illustrated the theory-to-practical application of the Principals of Management module, taking the Planning function in an organization and giving students the opportunity to develop their own short term and long term plans based on actual company situations.

Mr. Ikram Mohideen, Manager – Brand Planning & Strategic Planner for Leo Burnett spoke on International Marketing and International Market Research. He covered the practical side to selling products in different countries, the cultural aspects, the logistics, price points and requested the students to get into groups of three to discuss international marketing strategies to market a Sri Lankan coconut milk power product in the USA.

Mr. Lakna Paranavithana, former consultant to the ADB and ministerial advisor, spoke about current topics in Sri Lanka; the Port Financial City, Logistics Hub Concept, Export Village Concept in Sri Lanka and anticipated Geo Political trends in 2019/20 affecting Sri Lankan Businesses to expand students’ knowledge and their perspective of the world.

The discussion offered new insights in order to cultivate new talents and abilities in line with the changing market needs.

Over 80 students from U.S and Canada University Transfer Programmes and Business Degree Completion Programs of Northwood University participated in the above workshops, enhancing their understanding about the real corporate world and gaining valuable know-how and a practical approach to tackling the challenges in the corporate business world.
