Nosindi: A talented musical school girl
View(s):Blossoming out as a bright future singing star from the music city of Moratuwa, the TV Times came across this young schoolgirl, who has inherited her father’s musical talent. This promising songstress is 15 year old Nosindi Gamage, a Grade ten student from Good Shepherd Convent, Panadura.
Young Nosindi is at ease singing both Sinhala and western songs in her own natural style and has already come to be known as an outstanding and a popular singer to her many friends and admirers. Further, she has proved her capabilities by being highly placed in many musical competitions.
Nosindi emerged winner in the All Island Popular School songs festival (girls) English Solo 13 years category at the ‘Sri Lanka Festival of Music , Drama and Speech 2018’. She also won a silver medal at the same competition for the under 14 category held in 2019. She was runner-up for the senior Recorder (Instrumental) event at the All Island Inter-school Competition 2018, conducted by the Ministry of Education.
Further, Nosindi has completed the theory of music grade 3 examination conducted by the University of west London (LCM) 2019 with distinction.
Apart from her singing skills, she also performs on piano and the Spanish guitar and is a member of the school choir and orchestra .
Nosindi’s father Dinesh Gamage, is a well known vocalist and an active member of the Moratuwa Arts Forum(MAF)and her mother Dharshika Muthuhara, both of whom are helping Nosindi to achieve greater heights, both in the academic and music fields. Nosindi’s ambition in life is to be a trained music teacher.
