‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’: An evening to remember

View(s):

There was a long line-up of performers and together they produced an electric show that had the audience totally uplifted by their passion and commitment. Presented by Sound Scope, the brainchild of Tilanka Jayamanne and Nishantha Warnakulasuriya, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ the charity concert at the Bishop’s College Auditorium on September 27 was a fundraiser for the survivors of the Easter Sunday attacks.

For the audience who came in support of the cause, it was a chance to also see a new generation of performers. From the first strains of Greensleeves to CC ( Chrishantha de Silva) hitting a high with his rendition of ‘Skyfall’ and guest artists such as the De Lanerolle Brothers and Camerati delivering polished performances, it was a memorable show where each artist shone despite minor blips like delays with act changes, giving the audience an evening to remember.

The variety of genres kept the evening consistently exciting, from the jazzy instrumentals of La Vie En Rose keeping the audience hanging onto every note, to the powerfully cinematic rendition of Now We Are Free from The Gladiator soundtrack featuring multiple artists, right down to the harmonious joy of a whole audience singing along to Hey Jude at the end.
