Registered musical groups have been included in the category of persons and institutions entitled to concessions granted to the tourism industry in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday bombing.

This is stated in a circular to all licensed banks which reads as: “In line with the Cabinet decision to extend the concessions granted to tourism sector to music groups who are registered at the Department of Cultural Affairs, licensed banks are informed that such persons and entities are exempted from the requirement to register with Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, in order to avail of the concessions granted to tourism industry.”

Several entities in the tourism industry, which suffered due to little or no business after tourists shied away from Sri Lanka after the April attacks, were granted these concessions through banks.
