Nadal to represent Sri Lanka in Barcelona

The All-Island Under-12 Football Tournament was worked out recently covering all Provinces in Sri Lanka. Gateway College Colombo faced with one of the toughest draws that included schools such as Zahira, Hammeed Al Husseinie. St. Joseph’s and won the Colombo District Championship in style.

Out of almost 13,000 students that took part in the islandwide tournament, the best performing players were chosen for a coaching camp held in Kalutara. Almost 350 students were chosen for the camp. Five Footballers of Gateway – Shenuk Fernando, Nadal Senapala, Binuka Fernando, Senuk Dias, Hammood Rizwan and Hunnan Haleemwere among them.

Twenty two officials who were at the camp selected 20 talented and well performing boys for the Under-12 Sri Lanka National pool.Among them were Gateway’s Nadal Senapala and Hunnan Haleem. Nadal Senapala made it to the final eight that were selected to represent Sri Lanka Under-12 Football team for the Under-12 World Cup in Barcelona Spain.

During the tour, the young Sri Lankan team will have a coaching camp with the FC Barcelona Academy coaches. They will also have the opportunity of watching a game and meeting the FC Barcelona team.
