The defending champions Matale International School (MIS) performed well to retain the Under-16 and Under-18 Netball titles for the second consecutive year at the Matale Education Zone Inter-School Netball Championships 2019 concluded at Aluvihare MV ground in Matale.

In the Under-16 final Dinethi Rajapaksha led the MIS team to outplay Bandarapola MV Matale 12-4 while under the captaincy of Ashini Ranasinghe MIS recorded a close 14-13 win over fancied Bandarapola MV to lift the Under-18 netball title.

Having secured third place in the Under-18 age category at the Central Provincial Schools Netball Championships 2019 held at Bogambara Stadium in Kandy. Matale International have now qualified for the first time to compete in the All-Island Schools Netball Championships  2019 to be held shortly.

The success of the game in a short period of time at this school could be attributed to the untiring efforts taken by their coach and sports adviser Ramya Hendeniya, who guided and trained the players on the winning track to achieve these victories.
