A drama on a variety of human struggles in a remote village

Award winning teledrama director Sunil Costa’s newest telefilms ‘Sudu Endagena Kalu Avidin’ is now being screened at 9 pm belt from Monday to Thursday on National Television.

Famed for his award winning directions like ‘Sirisirimal’, ‘Roda Hathare Manamalaya’, ‘Sihina Wasanthayak’, ‘Sudui Usai’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘Pinsara Dhosthara’, Sunil Costa’s teledramas have won rave reviews from the audience as well.

Revolving around a journey of a mother and a daughter who leave the dreaded city life and go in search their roots to the village, the teledrama is played by Mishel Dilhara, Umayangana Wickremasinghe, Ananda Kumara Unnahe, Lakshman Mendis, Niroshan Wijesinghe, Chandani Seneviratne, Veena Jayakody and Sarath Kotelawela.

The mother features in the play is Subhani and the daughter is Anoma. They are like buddies. The teleplay starts with the two getting down from a bus at the remote village. Initially they seem to have lost their way. Anyway the mother seems to be having an aim but it is not so with the daughter. Even though the daughter dislikes her life in the city, she likes the village. What they need is a place to spend a night.

Wilson is a person who is not in his proper senses. His son Pancha attends school yet he hates education. Pancha who lives with his father yearns for love and affection. He is in an endless struggle in search of love. He even fights for it.

Amarapala who was born in the same village is a retired professor. His wife is a renowned novelist. The village school is on the verge of being closed due to lack of children. Principal Nayanananda is in a constant struggle to prevent the school being closed. These are only a few of the human struggles that we come across in ‘Sudu Endagena Kalu Evidin’.

Filmed by Sisikirana Paranavithana, art director is Ajantha Alahakone, editor is Shan Alwis, and music direction is by Dinesh Subasinghe. The costume design of the teledrama was done by Lakmal Weerasekara.
