First ever diploma on cinema by the Sri Lanka Film School

The first ever three-year long higher National Diploma on Cinema/ Filmmaking conducted by Sri Lanka Film School (SLFS) of the Sri Lanka Foundation- (SLF) is to be started on April 27. March 30 is the deadline for the applications and the diploma will cover all aesthetic and technical areas of filmmaking.

The course covers the main areas of filmmaking including film direction, screenplay writing, cinematography, lighting, editing and sound designing. It will also extensively educate on different genres of cinema, art direction, political history, literary developments in the world, the history of art in the world, architecture, philosophy, psychological analysis and music.

Internationally awarded filmmaker Sanjeewa Pushpakumara is the director of the course and the panel of lecturers include senior filmmakers and experts on cinema.

The Sri Lanka Film School is the first education institute completely dedicated to teaching cinema.
