The Peterites who lost by a point to the Thomians last week, made sure that the same fate won’t befall them this time by beating 14-7 Kingswood in a close game at Nittawela.

Hirusha Sampath was hero and villain in turn. He charged down a kick and fell on the ball to score Kingswood’s solitary try. He converted the try himself. However, he failed with two penalty conversions as the conditions underfoot were damp.

Peterite number eight A.B. Hilmy touched down almost with the kick off to open the scoring. Full back M.T. Nanayakkara converted for the visitors to lead 7-0. Later on, centre S.P. de Mel went over. With Nanayakkara’s conversion, the Peterites led 14-0 at the break.
