An education trade union is opposing any moves to revive the activities of a committee appointed to make amendments to the system of conducting the Grade Five Scholarship Examination.

Mahinda Jayasinghe, President of the Lanka Guruseva Sangamaya said that they believe reappointed Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasm will revive the committee after Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe stopped the functions of the committee when he was appointed last month.

Mr Jayasinghe said that they were against some of the proposals made by the committee before it was stopped. (DW)
