The brave innings of Ashan Nirasha (No. 6 batsman) 61 not out in 46 balls inclusive of five sixes and four fours guided Ashoka de Silva Cricket Academy to an upset 4-wicket win over MCA ‘Blue’ in the ongoing 13th MCA Inter Academy 30 Over Under-15 Tournament 2018, pre-quarter-finals, last Wednesday.
MCA ‘Blue’ (No. 1 in Group ‘C’) batting first, after piling up 182 runs for the loss of only three wickets in 30 overs, gave a pathetic display of fielding to go down to Asoka de Silva CA (No. 4 in Group ‘D’)
Newcomers to the tournament, Champ CA (No. 3 in Group ‘B’) did well to eliminate SNCA (No. 2 in Group ‘A’) by 18 runs.
The other six teams that booked their berths in the quarter-finals were SSC, HRCA, Ragama , newcomer Kingfisher, NCC and CCC.
