In the four Under-19 Inter-School matches that concluded yesterday, S. Thomas’, St. Peter’s, Nalanda and Royal Colombo registered outright wins. The wins came respectively against Prince of Wales, President’s, Kotte, De Mazenod and Bandaranayake MV, Gampaha.

An unbeaten knock of 122 in 142 balls that included six boundaries and six sixes by Ravindu de Silva and, a six wicket haul by Dellon Peiris, supported by a half ton from Umayanga Suwaris paved the way for S. Thomas’ to record an innings and 13 runs win over Prince of Wales in their Under 19 inter-school encounter concluded at Mt Lavinia.

The second day’s play saw S. Thomas’ in reply to the Cambrians score of 148 post a formidable score of 300 for 6 declared.

Prince of Wales batting the second time with a deficit of 152 runs was making smooth progress at one stage, underwent a major collapse as spinner Dellon send them reeling, Cambrians at one stage after being 78 for 1 lost their remaining nine wickets for the addition of 61 runs being bowled out for 139; which saw the Thomians recording their third outright win.

Left arm spinner Kanishka Maduwantha ended with an impressive bowling figures of 6 for 41 to guide St. Peter’s record a convincing innings and 74 runs win over the hapless President’s College Kotte in the match concluded at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

Nalanda coasted to an innings and 15 runs win over De Mazenod, Kandana in their match ended at Campbell Place. Nalanda’s Sri Lanka youth player Chamindu Wijesinghe top scored with 78 with six boundaries and two sixes. Ravin de Silva also made an unbeaten 54 helping Nalanda declare at 302 for 7 declared.

The first day’s proceedings saw Lakshitha Rasanjana who ending with a haul of seven wickets ruining the De Mazenod batting to bowl them out for 146.

Royal Colombo outclassed Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha by an innings and 102 runs in their match concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Royal Colombo put themselves in line to record an outright win in the midway of the second session on day two. They had their opponents’ struggling on 37 for 6 in the midway of the second session. The Gampaha lads were bundled out for a paltry 74 runs.

The opening day’s play saw Royal helped by Ahan Wickramasinghe and Pasindu Sooriyabandara ending day one in a strong position of 235 for 5.

The second day’s play Royal from their overnight added a further 46 runs for the loss of three wickets and declared on 281 for 8.

St. Sebastian’s dominated proceedings against St. Servatius Matara when play ended on day one in the match played at Moratuwa. St. Sebastian’s taking first lease of the wicket made a modest score of 220 and then bowled out St Servatius for a meager 85 runs.
