The 49th T.B. Jayah Memorial Boxing Championship saw Trinity College emerging champions at the meet. They accumulated with three gold, a silver and two bronze medals as St. Sylvester’s secured second place with three gold, a silver and a bronze medal. The third place went to Mahanama College who secured two golds, one silver and one bronze medal.

The Sylvestrians were declared joint champions with Trinity and then relegated to the second position by the organisers Schools Boxing Association. This is due to one of the Sylvestrian boxers had taken part in a kickboxing meet and was later disqualified. This enabled Trinity to emerge winners.

The Best Boxer award went to M.M. Faris of St. Sylvester’s and Best Loser to R.M.T. Raymond of Bandaranayake Central College Veyangoda. The meet was conducted by St. Sylvester’s College with the collaboration of the Sri Lanka Schools Boxing Association. The meet was held at the Sylvestrian Ring at Asgiriya. There were 187 boxers from 41 schools.
