Embilipitiya Royal College emerged victorious in three categories while Elagama Medagama Primary School Kegalle clinched two categories in the Kids Athletics Programme for the Sabaragamuwa Province. The three-day event where over 3200 young students from Grades 3, 4 and 5 participated, representing 191 schools, was held at the Seevalie ground in Ratnapura.
Embilipitiya Royal College won the Grade 3 Boy’s, Grade 4 Girls’ and Grade 5 Girls’ categories while Elagama Medagama Primary School Kegalle Grade 4 Boy’s and Grade 5 Boy’s categories.
The Programme was conducted for Grade 3, 4 and 5 in Boy’s, Girls and Mixed categories on October 14, 15 and 16.
The Kids Athletics Programme is the physical activity component of the Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme. While the Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme conducts classroom lessons about nutrition, improved diets, healthy cooking, hydration, food safety and hygiene, the Nestlé Kids Athletics Programme holds athletic training and awareness building events across the country, to encourage children to be more physically active.
Both programmes are conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and are part of the global Nestlé for Healthier Kids initiative, which aims at helping 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030.
