Lyceum Panadura overcomes Gateway Colombo in final

Lyceum International School Panadura beat Gateway College Colombo by 8 wickets to clinch the Inter-International Schools Under-15 Cricket Tournament 2018. In the final Gateway Colombo batted first and was restricted to 179-9 in their allotted 35 overs with Naren Muralidharan top scoring 60 runs. Rusiru Fernando’s knock of 86 paved the way for Lyceum Panadura to reach target by scoring 180-2 with 41 deliveries to spare.

For Gateway Colombo Mohamed Abdulla contributed with 26 runs with the bat besides the knock of Muralidharan while Akmal Fazly claimed three wickets for Lyceum Panadura. Vikusha Cooray captured two wickets. Despite losing two wickets at regular intervals Lyceum Panadura cruised to victory, mainly due to Fernando’s brilliant knock of 86. Nethan Liyanage batted sensibly to remain unbeaten on 35 when his team reached the winning target. The two Lyceum wickets that fell were shared by Mohamed Abdulla and Dulian Perera.

Mohamed Abdulla of Gateway Colombo went on to win the award for the Best Bowler of the Tournament while Rahul Chigllapalli of British School, Colombo won the award for the Best Batsman of the Tournament. Sarvesh Sathananthan of Colombo International School was adjudged the Best Fielder of the Tournament.
The Inter-International Schools Under-15 Cricket Tournament 2018 was organised by Lyceum International School Panadura. A total of 15 International Schools participated in this competition.

The winning Lyceum Panadura team was represented by Niven Rodrigo, Nethan Liyanage, Yeshith Kalupahana, Vikusha Cooray, Manuja Chanthuka, Dilnaka Daluwatta, Asith Kalupahana, Akmal Fazly, Dulana Perera, Sajaad Jazook, Rusiru Fernando, Tharusha Perera, Chamain Fernando, Rahula de Silva and Thejan Peiris, who equally contributed to the success of the team.
