D.S. Senanayake creates big Baseball upset
View(s):D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo created the biggest upset at the Under 20 Inter Schools Baseball Tournament 2018 when they beat better fancied Nalanda College, Colombo to signal that it will be a school to be reckoned in the field of Baseball in the near future.
It was interesting to note the enthusiasm shown by the outstation schools by taking part at the event and gave the better recognized schools a good run.
The Black and Gold lads exhibited a high standard of baseball to over come the three time champions Nalanda in a tournament participated by ten schools and competed by over 600. This tournament is one of the most competitive tournaments in the school level baseball arena, which showcases the best talents of the young baseball players.
In this highly competitive tournament Shashira Chamod of champion side D.S. Senanayake College was adjudged the Best Fielder while Praveen Ranasinghe of Nalanda College was rewarded the Best Hitter’s award. D.S. Senanayake College’s Janith Buddika was picked the Player of the Match and Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
