Buddhist Business Forum 2018 on “Buddhist Leadership Practices in Business”

The Buddhist Business Forum 2018 organised by the National Council for International Affairs of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress and will be held on October 16 at the BMICH Colombo.

The forum has been a regular feature of the World Fellowship of Buddhists since it held its 25th General Conference in Sri Lanka.

According to the organisers, the main objective of the forum is to practice and propagate the sublime doctrine of Lord Buddha in the conduct of Business, Social, Educational, Cultural and other Humanitarian Services and to Secure Unity, Solidarity, Brotherhood and Networking amongst Buddhists.

Eminent Buddhist Monks, learned academics and professional and business leaders will address the Buddhist Business Forum.

The inaugural session will be presided by the Ven. Dr. Galboda Gnanissara Nayaka Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple while the Chief Guest is Parliamentary Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

The keynote address on “Buddhist values in Business – Sigalovada Sutta” and Buddhist approach to business will be delivered by Ven. Prof. Madagampitiya Wijithadhanna Thero Head of Pali and Buddhist studies at University of Sri Jayawardanapura.

The session on “A New Paradigm for sustainable Business Founded on Buddhist values and Ethics” includes two presentations on “Buddhist Ethics and spirituality in leading Business organisation” by Deepal Sooriyarachchi, Management Consultant and “Entrepreneurship, Technology, Innovation and Networking for Sustainable Business” by Dulith Herath, Founder/Chairman Kapruka.com

The session on “A Radical Transformation of Attitudes, perspectives and Practices for Business Development based on Buddhist Values” will include addresses on “Education and Skill Enhancement for business development” by Dr. Harsha Alles, Chairman – Gateway Group of Schools and “Social and Environmental Responsibility for a Sustainable Corporate World” by Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, General Secretary Sarvodaya.

The final session is a panel discussion on “Business Success based on Buddhist Values” with the Chairman/Moderator of the session being Prashantha Lal De Alwis PC, Deputy Chairman Siyapatha Finance Plc. The panelists are Aravinda Perera, Managing Director – Royal Ceramics Lanka Plc; Kulatunga Rajapakse, Managing Director – DSI Samson Group (Pvt) Ltd; Mahendra Jayasekera, Managing Director – Lanka Tiles Plc, and Ms. Ramya Weerakoon, Chairperson – Ramya Holdings and Apparels.
