Mihila wins second Badminton title

Mihila Jayaweera, a student of Lyceum International School Wattala, was able to win the championship in Under-11 Boy’s Singles at the Anuradhapura Badminton Tournament. This is the second occasion Mihila won a championship this year. Earlier this year, Nihila won a championship at the tournament held in Kurunegala.

Mihila displayed his remarkable talent by being able to achieve badminton rankings at the age of six. This year he is leading the bonus point rankings by achieving 440 bonus points.

His achievements are mainly due to the great efforts his coach Upul Bandara, a retired Commando Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and a silver medalist at Para Badminton World Championship.

The tournament, an All-Island competition, Mihila won his second title was conducted by the Sports Ministry of North Central Province and was organised by the Sri Lanka Badminton Association. A large number of students from all leading schools took part.
