A system to simultaneously conduct online classes for around 10 schools by one or two teachers has been launched by the Ministry of Education.
Accordingly, classes will be conducted on Science, Maths or Information Technology, from one location, while the other schools will join in simultaneously, making use of the Smart Classroom facilities provided.

Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that, “So far more than 200 Smart Classrooms have been set up islandwide and students from many schools will be able to benefit from the services of one good experienced teacher. “The students will be able to interact by asking questions via live transmission,” he said. He said it was carried out as a pilot project with successful results.

“One of the benefits will be an experienced teacher could be utilised more efficiently for the benefit of many students,” he added.
He said this was the benefit of introducing Smart Classrooms, and they intend introducing the system to more schools. - DW
