The inaugural batch of students successfully completed the IT course offered by the Ranaviru Information Technology Training Institute (RITTI) in Clappenburg, Trincomalee, recently. The maiden Course, offered free of charge by the RITTI, had 52 schoolchildren from low income families, representing all ethnic groups in the region, follow it, the Information Dept said.

The candidates who successfully completed the 45-hour Course, were presented with certificates at a ceremony held in August. The IT course, designed to enhance the IT knowledge of schoolchildren between the ages of 10&15 years, is conducted by experienced Army IT Technical staff at the Institute.

The Sri Lanka Army conducts similar Community Welfare programmes to uplift the Educational standards of children in the North and East. The IT course offered by the RITTI is one such initiative that is now much sought after in the region.
