Prof Carlo Fonseka conferred Order of the Rising Sun- Gold Rays
View(s):Professor Carlo Fonseka, at a ceremony held on Friday, was conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays, by the Japanese Government, in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of Japanese Culture in Sri Lanka.
Prof Fonseka was appointed Co-Chairperson of the Committee on Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship ‘Cultural Awards’, in 2010.
The Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship ‘Cultural Awards’, known as the Bunka Awards, established in 1993, aims to encourage and promote mid-career Sri Lankan artistes with exceptional talents.
