Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has advised authorities to provide opportunities for Information Technology-based teaching for all subjects in schools. Accordingly, the authorities have been able to develop the syllabus and the content required for teachers to base their teaching using IT facilities.

Using IT to teach some subjects has proved easier than concentrating on traditional teaching methods. A Ministry official said IT could be used effectively to teach subjects such as drama, arts, science and maths. The instructions will apply for all grades. Under the scheme schools will be able to obtain content suitable from outside parties for educational purposes.

He said that under the provisions, all question papers in the education zones could be made available using IT facilities.
Teachers will be provided a six month training to implement the scheme. (DW)
