The much looked forward to Milo President’s Trophy Under-19 Inter-School Knockout Rugby Tournament will kick off from June 16 at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

The tournament, which is contested by eight teams, will comprise of the top six teams from the Division One segment and the top two teams in Plate Champions which most probably would be S. Thomas’ and D.S. Senanayake colleges. The top six teams in Top Division are yet to be finalised.

Two other tournaments — the Premier Trophy and the Chairman’s Trophy too will be conducted concurrently for which the teams in the two categories have not been finalised.

Initially the four quarter finals and the two semi finals are scheduled to be played at the Sugathadasa Stadium and the organisers have decided the final to be played at the Racecourse rugby ground at Reid Avenue on June 30.

Defending champions St. Joseph’s who defeated Isipathana in the final last year to win their first major schools rugby title will be looking forward to make a repeat but that is not going to be easy.

The schedule:  June 16 first quarter final, June 17 second quarter final, June 18 third and fourth quarter finals. June 23 first semi final and June 24 second semi final, all these will be played at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

June 30 will be the final.
