Bandarawela Central College and St. Joseph’s College will meet again for the 15th time when both teams go all out to claim the Uva Battle of the Gold annual Big Match Cricket encounter. The match will be played on March 16 and 17 at the Bandarawela Municipal Council ground, in a carnival atmosphere, as the encounter is considered the pride of the Uva Province for the past 14 years.

St. Joseph’s College hold the upper hand in the tally of wins with three victories while Bandarawela Central have emerged victorious twice. The remaining nine encounters have ended in either thrilling or tame draws.

Kaushan Sasanka leads St. Joseph’s College which claims of a well balanced team with good batsmen, bowlers, fielders and allrounders. They are eager to come out strong in the battle with the aim of recording their fourth win. They are confident of giving their opposition a good run.

Bandarawela Central is led by Charithra Dilshan. The team has shown confidence and are aiming at a win at this year’s encounter to equal the number victories. They are keen to give their opposition a real test on the two days next weekend.
