Pop star Taylor Swift has won a court battle over the copyright of her global hit’ Shake It Off’. Last week US District Judge Michael Fitzgerald dismissed the lawsuit brought by song writers Sean Hall and Nathan Butler who claimed Swift’s No: 1 hit ‘Shake It Off’ was similar to the song ‘Playas Gon Play’ they wrote in 2000 for the US all girl group 3LW. The judge suggested the duo amend the complaint before he settles the verdict on February 26. Earlier she won a challenge brought by an R&B singer Jesse Braham over the song.

The pop group Little Mix is set to start work on a new album next month and expect to release this year. A tour will follow next year. Their last album ‘Glory Days’ came out in 2016 with four hit songs.

Hip hop artist Drake has taken to social media to call on his 39.7 million fans to take a 24 hour challenge in doing something good and bring on a smile on another person. The Canadian star made challenge hot on the heels of the release to the video of his No: 1 hit song ‘God’s Plan’, on which he had spent nearly $ 1 million by way of giving cash and paying bills of people at random. Meanwhile Drake’s God’s Plan’ remains steady at the helm of the UK singles chart for a fourth consecutive week. The song had 6.7 million streams as it held off challenges from other songs.

Keala Settle’s ‘This Is Me’ took a three notch climb up the UK singles chart as the artist and the Greatest Showman Ensemble made a brief promo tour of the UK last week. The 42 year old who plays the role of a bearded lady in the musical drama The Greatest Showman alongside Hugh Jackman saw her song ‘This Is Me’ rise from 6 to No: 3. Settle who is a R&B singer and now found fame as a Broadway artist also won a Golden Globe for best original song in January. She and the Greatest Showman Ensemble were in the UK on a promo tour and performed ‘This Is Me’ on the Graham Norton Show on 9th February.

Liam Payne & Rita Ora’s duet ‘For You’ from the soundtrack of the film Fifty Shades Freed became the hottest song to rise on the UK chart to land at No: 8 rising 10 places. The synthpop/electropop track has Rita Ora dominating the vocals with her obvious strong voice. In addition to singing the main track she is also staring in the film series for the third time. The song began it journey on the chart at 11 and tumbled to 21, 29 and then regained popularity rising to 23, 18 and 8 – the current position.

One Direction took a break in 2015. Now reports from the UK say their tour company Rollcall Touring Ltd which was founded in 2012 was dissolved on February 13. One Direction members are now pursing solo careers.
