‘Grand Umaya’ in Pitigala is the very first hotel built in the area with all modern banquet facilities.

With a lush paddy field and a hillock as the backdrop, Grand Umaya locatd close to the main Pelawatta road. Started operations in March 2017, the hotel is the brain child of two friends – Kumara Pathirana and Nihal Jayasinghe.

Boasting of six spacious bedrooms, tastefully furnished and with all modern amenities, Grand Umaya is geared to cater to family travellers. It can accommodate up to sixteen guests comfortably.

‘Since there are no hotels or banquet facilities in the area, my friend Nihal and I were ready to grab the opportunity to start our dream project with an investor’ said joint Managing Director Kumara Pathirana.

‘The Hotel is dedicated to small groups of families, who want to spend their outing together leaving the hustle and bustle of the city. And we encourage honeymooners too to visit the most attractive place in the village. This would be a real hideout for them’ said MD Pathirana.

Grand Umaya additionally provides a plethora of options for private party planners, from its large, banquet hall. Almost 275 to 300 pax can be accommodated the Banquet Hall.

‘Apart from the modern setting, the banquet hall is outfitted with a 16 different colour lighting system’ Kumara said.

Guests can sample delicious fruit juices and fresh salads at functions, or enjoy a meal made of garden-fresh, home-grown vegetables from the authentic farms in the village.

When it comes to culinary trends, Grand Umaya Hotel stands way ahead with its extraordinary preparation of Sri Lankan cuisine. Keeping with all the traditions, the culinary experience of Grand Umaya Hotel too is authentic. Whether it is Sri Lankan, Chinese or English, the Chef keeps the traditions.

Daytime outings and excursions too are arranged. Trekking to the nearby temple, rubber and tea estates, bird watching and a picnic to a stream, too are arranged. The beautiful natural pond, with fresh cool water from a stream, is indeed a ideal way for refreshing.
