The father of B.L. Niroshan, a student who passed the Grade 5 Scholarship exam, said that he had to seek the support of villagers to meet the expenses of sending his son to a school in Galle for further education.

Mr Niroshan, a resident of Imaduwa, Horodugoda, said his son secured 183 marks at last year’s Scholarship exam, and became eligible to attend a school in Galle town, but was unable to meet the cost, as he was a labourer, and hence, unable to maintain the family and meet school expenses.

“My scholarship student son attends school in Galle with great difficulty due to severe financial constraints, while my younger son studies at Imaduwa Goradugoda Schooll,” he said.
