SSC’s offloaded batsmen – Dimuth Karunaratne, Kaushal Silva, Milinda Siriwardena along with talented Sammu Ashan scored good runs helping them pile a hefty total 444 for 4 in their Premier ‘A’ tie against the Saracens at Maitland Place, yesterday.

Milinda Siriwardena who was unbeaten on 103 overnight added a further 34 runs to remain unbeaten on 137 which had eight boundaries and seven sixes. Saracens SC in their turn had a sound start with openers Minhaj Jaleel and last weeks top scorer Andy Solomons adding 60 runs. The separation of the duo saw them falling back and was made to struggle for their before ending the day on 192 for 7. Once again in the news is national fast bowler Dhammika Prasad. Prasad so far had bagged 3 for 58.

The opening day’s play saw openers Dimuth Karunaratne who cracked a stylish 83 and Kaushal Silva (42) giving SSC a flying start with the pair adding 96 runs. This was followed by a massive 200-run stand for the fourth wicket between Ashan and Siriwardena.

A valuable 167-run partnership for the third wicket between Rumesh Buddika who made a 123 inclusive of ten boundaries and half a dozen sixes and skipper T.N. Sampath 96 with 13 boundaries and a six saw BRC make a score of 316. That was made in reply to Chilaw Marians score of 293 at the FTZ ground in Katunayake.

Last week’s centurion, Primosh Perera made a top score of 123 as he along with skipper Chamara Silva and Shanuka Dulaj helped Moors SC make a score of 444 for 6 declared at CCC ground.

NCC resuming from their overnight score of 125 for 2 lost wickets at regular intervals and was restricted to a score of 234 runs on day two in reply to Tamil Unions low score of 117 at the NCC ground.

With no play being possible in the morning session at the Colts ground saw the Ragama CC batsmen going on the rampage.  Half tons by Saminda Fernando, Janith Liyanage and Ishan Jayaratne saw Ragama end day two on 324 for 6.

There was also no play in the morning session in the matches between Army SC and SLPA CC at Panagoda and late start saw Army SC from their overnight score of 197 for 7 being bowled out for 224 and SLPA CC in reply ending the day on 85 for 3. The matches will be continued today.
