Fancied Cueists record easy wins

The first day’s proceedings of the Masters Snooker Championship 2017 conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association played at the AAC and The Cue Club billiards saw fancied cueists record easy wins in their first round matches.
Anil Rohana of AAC a former Colombo District champion along with Bharatha Siriwardena (BRC), A.D.R.C. Alwis of AAC and Rohitha de Silva of BRC won their matches with the minimum of fuss by the identical winning margins of 2-0 over their opponents.
The other players to win their matches were M.M.M. Rizmy of MSC, T.K. Saideen of AAC and Indika Hewamanthree of BRC. Only seven from the 16 matches that were scheduled were played with walk overs being given in the others.
The tournament proper saw 41 cueists entering the fray but with some of the players skipping the tournament saw it being reduced. The quarter and semi finals are scheduled to be played over five frames and the final over seven frames which are slotted to be played on November 6 at the AAC.

Rohitha de Silva (BRC) beat Denzil Anthony (OAC) 2-0 (57/32, 76/39). Anil Rohana (AAC) beat S.A.D. Rohana (Police) 2-0 (60/22, 57/15). M.M.M. Rizmy (MSC) beat Sarath de Alwis (YMBA) 2-0 (63/3, 66/34). T.K. Saideen (AAC) beat W.U.K. Lanarolle (AAC) 2-0 (39/30, 47/36). Indika Hewamanthree (BRC) beat N. Dissanayake (Orient) 2-1 (42/70, 68/38, 58/30).
